To me farming is all about dreams. It is about living your dream or at least creating your dream. For some of us it will remain a dream but to others it is a reality come true.
When my clients bought this farm(two title deeds,203,0023 hectares), not so long ago, they brought their dreams, commitment and guts along and started on a journey of perseverance, hard work and amazing rewards.
This farm is situated on the famous R62, almost at the very start or end of the famous route and neither the scenery nor the ambience lack. Consisting of two title deeds this is a perfect combination of opportunity, scenery and living your dream. This property had nothing but burnt down remains of what use to be a very comfortable home and dilapidated sheds. The current owner renovated the original chicken abattoir and turned it into a cosy, very comfortable little house with everything you need to live comfortably.
The house consists of four bedrooms, one bathroom and an open-plan living room-kitchen. All the cupboards are brand new and the whole house has been lovingly restored. Although small it is testimony to hard work and creativeness.
A very big shed provides ample storage for a whole load of tools, workman gear and implements. Although from corrugated iron it is sturdy and in a good condition. This farm used to be a chicken farm and the sheds are all still reasonably usable. There are also units for keeping a piggery as well as calves. Al close by and easily accessible.
The original walls of the original homestead are still towering over the farm and adds a whimsical touch to all.
There is a river running through the property although no water rights are allocated to this specific property. A recently drilled borehole provides about 6000 litres of water per hour and although the iron content of the water is high it is useable for humans and animals. The dam on the property needs repairing.
The remainder of the farm consists of beautiful fynbos and has not been grazed upon for at least four years. Deep ravines at the back of the property provides perfect catchment for water and would be the main source of water for the constant flowing fountains and little stream running into the river.
Although the farm does not have much arable land there are so many other opportunities to explore. With the water at hand it would be reasonable to expand on fynbos, planting and growing specific types and later exporting the beautiful flowers.
This is the type of property you buy to either keep to yourself totally because it would be way too much to turn this into a guest farm and share the beauty and tranquillity with others;
Or you turn this into a guest farm with cosy little wooden cottages at the back of the farm where guests can get lost in the dreaminess of an almost surreal world, totally oblivious to the cruel world out there;
Or you move in with your dreams, your family and your hopes and start earning a comfortable income from decent hard work and a love for all thing’s nature;
Or you retire and take things as it come your way.
What would I do? I will not share. But as an estate agent it is my duty to share this amazing opportunity with you. This farm needs TLC and time and love but eventually it will be worth your while.
